Romantic Breaks in Gwithian

by Lauren

If you are looking for the perfect cosy getaway then here at Three Mile Beach we have got you covered. Our beach shacks are the place to be, offering up a snuggly backdrop for a romantic break. Each shack has its own private deck with private sauna and hot tub, as well as log burners inside to cosy up after a dip in the sea or bracing walk on the sand dunes of Gwithian Towans.

You can book a two-night spa break with us too, which will include luxury treatments for you both in our exquisite treatment room Relax.

Let's make it simple for you though, here's our itinerary to make the most of a two-night spa break here in Gwithian.

Day One

Arrive and check-in early at 3pm and slip into that laid back vibe, perhaps enjoying a dip in your private hot tub or kick back in your own sauna. You can get some shopping delivered to your lodge as the likes of Waitrose do home delivery groceries, so make sure there's some fizz included.

While away your first night here onsite at Three Mile Beach, enjoy some stargazing from your deck, a quick stroll to the cliff tops to take in the views and serve up some great food. You can cook it yourself if you're a budding Jamie Oliver, or let us take the strain with pre-ordered food, a private chef or have your own pizza party.

Sink into the sofa and enjoy some quality time, a film or two and further snacks and drinks. Get yourselves an early night ready to enjoy everything the area has to offer on day two.

Day Two

Start the day with a beach walk, just moments from your beach shack. If you are feeling brave you could even take a dip in the sea, safe in the knowledge you can warm up in the sauna and hot tub of your beach shack. Enjoy the beach, grab a coffee from the Kabyn or Godrevy Cafe.

Have yourself some real relaxation time next, getting treatments in Relax, our sanctuary of calm. Let Lily massage away stress or tension and be ready for the rest of your weekend by the sea.

A spot of lunch should be next on the agenda, whether that's made by your own fair hands or enjoyed locally at places like The Red River Inn, Lula Shack or Sunset Surf.

Get out and try something new or exciting together for the afternoon. Surfing, bodyboarding, cold water swimming or general coast path exploration top our list. Here in Gwithian all of this is easy to access too, we can arrange private surf lessons, board and wetsuit hire and more.

Dinner should be a special one, so book ahead, whether that's your own private chef or dinner out. We have favorites in the area such as Ardor and The Fish Shed in St Ives, Kota Kai in Porthleven or Argoe and 45 Queen Street in Newlyn and Penzance. If you are after recommendations just ask the team.

Day Three

Your final morning will also include a late (11am) check-out, so make the most of it.

Grab an early start and hit the beach again, swim in the sea and warm up in the sauna and hot tub before enjoying breakfast in your beach shack, a relaxed pack up and check out.

Then you can return home fully relaxed.

It's up to you if you want to stay in the area though, perhaps heading to St Ives to take in some of that quaint coastal appeal, do a spot of shopping, enjoy the Tate gallery or simply stroll those cobbled streets. If you are here for a romantic short break, then we have been sharing our ideas of 'dates' in the area. Read on for some inspiration.

Bethany:

Trevaylor Woods near Penzance is really nice place for a walk. This valley runs for a few miles, with a stream running through it and plenty of rope siwngs too. It's usually pretty quiet and is a favourite for dog walkers and families, but is a really great place for a stroll.

St Michaels resort, down in Falmouth has an amazing full spa with pool and more, the Hydrotherapy experience is amazing, as is the hotel for lunch before or after.

Newyln Filmhouse is a cool and independent cinema and restaurant about 20 minutes away in Newlyn. A place worth a visit to catch a film and a bite to eat, plus Newlyn is lovely for a seaside stroll too.

Steve:

Perranuthanoe Beach is a real favourite, with glimpses of St MIchael's Mount and a really great cafe above the beach. A place where I got engaged, but also a place to hang out on a beach that is often a little quieter. A coast path walk in either direction can take you onto plenty of other fabulous places and secluded coves too.

Talay Thai in St Ives is the best spot for a meal out, it's also some of the best Thai food you'll ever eat. St Ives is obviously worth a visit to enjoy some Cornish culture and art, and is best backed up with a good meal.

Beatrice:

A bit of art, culture, and of course, cocktails.

You can't go wrong exploring the Tate At Ives gallery, absorbing some great art and the views across Porthmeor beach. It's a place that embodies some of those years of inspirational art from the town.

Once you've had your fill of art then it's time for cocktails, followed by dinner. St Eia, nestled just behind Porthmeor beach is the perfect place for a cocktail. Whether you're after a magnificent Martini or a Gimblet - Winston Churchill's favourite. Whatever you choose you won't be disappointed.
