Our favourite Hayle walks and beyond

A landscape begging to be explored on foot

There’s no doubt about it – our location is a walker’s dream come true. With the ocean by your side, secret bays and beaches to drop down into, wildlife all around you, views stretching out in front of you, and the freshest air filling your lungs, it’s about as essential as it gets. Muddy, sandy, hilly, and easy. Strolling, climbing, scrambling, and rambling – you’ll find all types of walks for all types of walkers.

The Southwest Coast Path

We have to start with this. It’s amazing, and we’re sitting right on it. It’s the longest National Trail in the UK peppered with heritage sites, geology sites, and endlessly beautiful views. You can traverse its 630 miles or just walk for a bit and back. Either way, you’ll never fail to fall for its charms. If it’s summer and your four-legged friend is coming along for the trek, keep an eye out for the beaches with dog bans. Otherwise, happy hiking.

A jaunt to Godrevy Point

Turn right and head along the beach or dunes until you level with the lighthouse where you’ll get views over Godrevy Island and across the bay to St Ives. This walk comes into its own in spring when the grasslands are bursting with beautiful wildflowers.

A longer walk from Gwithian to Hayle

Turn left, and you’re bound for Hayle along the Towans Trail aka Cornwall’s second-longest dune system and a site of special scientific interest.
